Oranges are believed to have originated in Southeast Asia, specifically in the regions of northeastern India, southern China, and Vietnam. They were first cultivated around 2500 BCE. Oranges spread westward to the Mediterranean region through trade routes and became a prominent fruit in ancient civilizations, including those of Greece and Rome. By the time of the European exploration in the 15th and 16th centuries, oranges had made their way to the Americas, where they thrived in the warm climates of regions like Florida and California.
